This is our 3rd L/R and by far the best one. This Puma 2.2 ltr diesel engine is so smooth and quiet it makes a great touring car for wild forgotten roads.
We came across a Series 1 circa 1955 which had been donated to a tribe living in the desert region of Ethiopia and stored since the petrol had ran out: but on fuelling with half a gallon and starting from our battery it ran so smoothly on its petrol engine that it could have been electric powered! I do hope they will cherish that wonderful car.

These vehicles are so redolent of the 1950s when I was growing up that I always wanted one, I never wanted a Jeep, though it would be my 2nd choice or a Benz G Wagen, the latter having all the charisma of a Dish-Washer, especially now with LED headlamps.

These Heritage models represent the final production allowed by EU ruling as the design does not permit the fitting of airbags to the vehicles door, steering & dash!

Driving through Botswana our local L/R dealer at home phoned to ask if we wanted to make a commitment on one of the very last 60 vehicles to be made! Our L/R was then only 9 months old and I didn’t need 2 L/Rs, but when I asked what the colour would be and was told Grasmere Green I said yes! Our low mileage Tudor Grey was traded as soon as the Heritage became available.

This was the colour of these exciting, semi military, expedition go anywhere cars of my school days: my answer had to be YES.

It was a great vehicle in India as we have had it fitted with a parasol and a table on which to make our morning coffee that can be enjoyed well off road with no fears of getting stuck.
